Toni Lynn Cormier
As the founder and president of Saying Goodbye, I have combined my passion of empowerment, spirituality and travel. Nestled in beautiful Northern California the office of Saying Goodbye offers transition navigation (grief support) holistic health and spiritual consultation, workshops and on-line Science of Mind classes.
I have over fifteen years of bereavement experience and I'm Certified in Thanatology: Death, Dying and Bereavement through the Association of Death Education and Counseling (ADEC). My vision is to transform grief and loss into healing. I hold space for people to explore their feelings and emotions in a non-judgmental and safe space. Grief work is very individualized; therefore as a grief educator, do not have an agenda which allows the bereaved to have the experience they need. This is achieved through active listening, presence, and validation of feelings. I am available for private sessions and speaking engagements throughout the country.
As a graduate of the Grief Recovery Institute, I have expanded and honed my grief training. The Grief Recovery Method (GRM) defines the broad extent of grief – and how common is it? Grief is the normal and natural emotional response to change or loss of any kind – death, divorce, moving, financial changes, health changes, relationship changes and on and on… Grief is also the result of unmet hopes, dreams and expectations and the loss of intangible concepts such as safety, trust, security, respect, faith… and hope. Grief is universal. All of us have experienced grief throughout our lives, as a result of many changes and losses. But we are not well prepared to really handle, manage or recover from the emotional impact which result from these changes and losses.
Being a Board Certified Chaplain and a member of the College of Pastoral Supervision and Psychotherapy keeps me current in the various changing circumstances people experience. Chaplaincy has deepen the depth of my work by assisting people who are looking for meaning in the midst of change. As a clinical chaplain, I am able to use the self to be present with a client in a non-judgmental, non-directive way while paying attention to clues, cues and voids while providing a healing presence.
I earned a Master of Arts degree in Holistic Health Education from John F. Kennedy University. The curriculum at JFKU included effective communication, group process and integral studies. As a lifelong seeker of knowledge I earned a second Master of Arts degree in Consciousness Studies from Holmes Institute, which is the ministerial training program for Centers for Spiritual Living.
I reside in the Bay Area, Northern California. My mottos are “laugh with reckless abandonment” and “courageously live your passion”.
